20 Best Photos from the 2014 Tonga Whale Season

During the months of August and September, 30 photographers from 5 10-day charters shot tens of thousands of photos of the humpback whales of Tonga. At the end of each charter, they gave us their 20 best, or 600 photos in total. Of those, we chose our 20 favorites from each charter, bringing that number down to 100.

And now, we have pored through them once again and chosen our 20 best.

This was a monumental task! We had to limit them to just whales, although there were many sensational shots of other Tongan marine life and adorable local children. Of course, there are many more photos that deserve to appear among these, but we had to draw the line somewhere!

We offer our sincere gratitude and hearty congratulations to the lucky 13 guests whose photos made the Top 20. Well done!

Here they are: the 20 Best Photos from the 2014 Tonga Whale Season.

“After 60 years of diving all over the world, Fiji still surprises and intrigues me. Fiji is a destination uniquely safe and easy to reach yet it is the colour of our dreams.”
