REEF Charter with Paul Humann
NAI’A welcomed aboard Paul Humann, fish ID expert and guest host for this ten day dive trip. Paul is chairman of REEF and best known for his Fish ID guides. With his vast dive experience, wealth of knowledge on the marine environment and underwater photography skills, Paul makes a great guest host.
With all the fish ‘geeks’ aboard we set sail for our ten-day itinerary that includes Fiji’s finest reefs. With four dives a day and Paul’s lectures/fish ID sessions, the trip flew by.
The whole group knew their reef critters and were willing to learn about more. Paul and the group found several species that were previously thought not to have been in Fiji – lots of range extensions for the next edition of his book.
From pygmy seahorses to mantas, this trip had it all. Sometimes it is hard to see the cool little things amidst the abundance of a healthy coral reef but this group had the discerning eyes to pick the favorites in the crowd. Vatu-i-ra was the favored destination during the trip and the glorious soft coral laden reefs with their incredible color displays wowed everyone!

“Lomaiviti is nationally significant for its important role in reseeding Fiji’s reefs and providing fish refuges.”
